All synthetic slings should be protected
from being accidently cut by sharp edges at the load or the hook up points.
The following are our standard most often requested wear pads which can
be supplied in any length and width. We manufacture custom designed
wear pads for your specific application, please ask for details. Most of
the time the cost for such special wear pads are much lower than you think.
We also fabricate wear pads with buffers made from Kevlar and High Density
Industrial Felt, and design edge protectors made from aluminum or steel
with optional inserted magnets to stick to loads.
Our standard Wear Pads are constructed from the following materials:
Ballistic
This is an ultra hard and super dense fabric originally developed for bullet
proof vests. Today you can find it in many applications, e.g. as cut protection
on ice hockey skates. This is the most cut resistant fabric known. We use
it to further protect Nylon buffer layers. Ballistic can be used as is however,
it is not very thick and as such does not 'smooth' sharp edges.
CoverMax® (Cordura)
This is the same 'bulked' nylon fabric which we use as cover tubes on Twin-Path®
slings. It is a hard woven material, has good abrasive properties, and is
much less expensive than Ballistic. Most often it is used as edge
guard, as loop- or eye buffer, and to cover entire nylon flat web slings
including their edges.
Cordura (white)
It is available only in a few selected sizes. Popular as edge protection
on boat lifting slings. It is much 'softer' than Covermax and we use it
for all kinds of special protection which requires a soft but abrasion resistant
fabric.
Uni-Web® Nylon
Used as standard 'buffer' material. This is the same webbing from which
we make slings. It has a very high density to resist compression. Try and
cut it with a knife it's not that easy!
Velcro®
It doesn't need an introduction anymore. We use the original 'stuff' made
by 3M. It comes in a variety of width and types and has shown to stand up
even in the harshest conditions. |

Nylon Sliding
Wear Pad with Ballistic and Velcro®
Our most popular 'double sided' wear pad. Constructed from a layer of folded
Ballistic protected Nylon. We added a Velcro® zip for easy installation
onto slings. |

Nylon Sliding
Wear Pad with Ballistic
Same 'double sided' pad as above. Constructed from a layer of folded Ballistic
protected Nylon but has NO Velcro zip. In most cases it is installed onto
the sling during manufacturing so it can't get lost in service. |

Ballistic
Sleeve
This is just the base Ballistic without any further buffers manufactured
to form a simple sleeve. It is very abrasion and cut resistant and is preferred
to be used with Uni-Path and Twin-Path slings. Holding straps to prevent
sliding during service are optional and are custom added. Available with
Velcro® zip. |

| PROTEC is used with Uni-Path® and Twin-Path®
Lifting slings. Shown above is a 3-layered Protec Wear Pad with
2 fixed- and one (1) optional Velcro® holding strap. |

PROTEC
Many customers requested a multiple layer, heavy duty wear pad which can
easily be installed onto existing slings AND permit the sling to be inspected
without shifting or removing the wear pad itself.
Our solution is PROTEC which is constructed from a minimum of two
(2) layers of buffer nylon to smooth load corners and edges. As a standard,
the buffer layer which is contact with load is encased in Ballistic
that is, Ballistic is folded into the buffer to prevent the edges
from premature wear.
As an option PROTEC is available with up to 4 layers of nylon buffer.
Shown here are 3 layers; two of which are yellow, and one which is encased
in black Ballistic.
As with our other wear pads PROTEC is also availabe with optional
Velcro® holding straps for ease of installation. |

CornerMax
Wear Pad
Developed for special application which call for an extra brute y et flexible
wear pad. The key component is a wire mesh normally used as a lifting sling.
This wire mesh is encased in layers of high density industrial strength
felt and nylon. It's contact surface toward the load is protected with Ballistic.
CornerMax® Wear Pads are custom fabricated and designed and may not
be available on a 'next day' basis. |

Fixed Wear
Pads
Shown above are 'fixed' wear protections; that is they are sewn onto the
sling itself, on either one only side or, as shown, on both sling sides.
Fixed wear pads are made from either Ballistic or economical Covermax®
Cordura (green). |

Edge Guard
These are edge protected slings. We can protect just the sling portion which
is prone to edge damage, or we can cover the entire sling. In either case,
this edge protection is the most durable and sturdy protection you can find,
not just a different coloured webbing edge. Available as hard woven Covermax®
edge protection or with standard white Cordura. |

Standard Sliding
Wear Pads
This 'original' wear pad design dates back to be begnning of fiber sling
production. One or more layers of Nylon buffer are constructed to form a
tube or pouch in which the lifting sling is inserted. Available with Velcro®
zip. |

Loop Pads
These pads can be made from a variety of different materials. Shown here
are pads made from Covermax® Cordura, but we can use Ballistic
as well as other fabrics. Two styles to choose from: the 'full wrap' version
protecting also the outside of the eye, and the 'inside pad' version which
generally has double the thickness at the wear point compared to the 'full
wrap'. |
