WLL and Design
Factor
Unirope® synthetic slings are manufactured to ensure a design factor
of 5:1. This design factor is a factor which is divided into the nominal
strength of a sling to arrive at the WLL (or Rated Capacity). This factor
is necessary to allow for wear, abrasion, damage, and variations in load
which are not always readily apparent to the sling user BUT DOES NOT
COVER FOR INSUFFICIENT EDGE PROTECTION OR PROTECTION AGAINST CUTTING.
In the absence of a Canadian standard for synthetic lifting slings our sling
capacities meet or exceed the values stipulated in ASME B30.9, and meet
or exceed fabrication efficiencies as recommended by the AWRF.
Continuous testing and quality control guarantee a professionally made and
safe sling. Our test equipment is certfied to ASTM E4 and approved by Lloyd's
Register of Shipping. |

Sling
Tags
Synthetic slings produced by Unirope come with either one of the following
tags:
A: Single Tag Vinyl System
Our standard capacity tag is made from extra heavy duty nylon reinforced
vinyl. This tag shows the Rated Capacity for vertical, choker, and a 90°
basket hitch, the fiber material used, and the length. For most of our sling
types the capacties are pre-printed in large legible characters which the
sling user can easily read. Integrated on the same tag are important safety
information for the user. These are standard on all Uni-Web®, Uni-Path®,
and Uni-Tuff slings. |

B: Dual Leather and
Tyvac Tag System
Upon request our slings can be furnished with tags made from really thick
natural leather. All the necessary information required by the user and
the various regulatory authorities is hot branded into the leather. In most
cases the sling capacity is stamped in with steel stamps leaving a permanent
impression. In addition we attach a supplemental warning tag with valuable
information for the sling user. The combination of these tags provide the
user with the most complete and descriptive information. As a standard Twin-Path®
slings are furnished with leather tags. For all other sling types additional
charges apply. |
